Pup
#10, Havelock's Blackwatch Mego, arrived safe and sound, slept 45 minutes on
the drive home, woke up and sauntered into the house like she owned it!
All evening long, she has been retrieving "to lap" everything in sight,
socks, squeak toys, etc., see attached. She is balanced, stable..., very
nice. Mego is a pistol! My wife Carol and I are VERY IMPRESSED! The only
thing I can say for sure about your puppy right now, is that if my health
holds out for a few years, she will have an opportunity to become the very
best she can be. If you see some dust on the horizon this late Sept.
southeast of you, look for a Havelock pup saying, "Hold this leash, and
watch me go!" Thanks so much to both of you,

 Hi
Kerry,
A few pics to check out. Went pheasant hunting the last two Sundays with

great nose, great drive and awesome personality. I don't need to say
anymore....the pics will do that!!!

I wanted to drop a note to let you know how much
we enjoy the female we got from you just over 1 year ago. She is an
excellent hunter with fantastic pointing instincts. She has quickly become a
integrated part of our family both indoors and in the field. We hunt every
single weekend (public, private, and preserves). I have been a
lab owner for many years and have to admit I was gun-shy about making the
switch to the English Setter. I belong to the local chapter of NAVHDA. After
one day in the field with one of the trainers, the comment was “There’s
nothing wrong with this dog.” We are extremely happy and love this dog
to no end. I’m considering adding another one of your dogs to our
hunting family in the near future. Thank you. B.P.

Kerry
and Marian,
Hello. I picked up my male, tri color setter from you in August 2009 and
brought him to his new home in *****. Like any puppy, it’s been a joy and a
challenge and overall I’m very pleased with him. He is very active and as
long as I’ve given him plenty of exercise outside he settles down nicely
when indoors. I’ve had him out hunting several times this year and he’s
coming along very well. He has a very good nose and a lot of
desire, enthusiasm and drive to find birds. This is the first English setter
I’ve had and you’ve done a very good job of breeding in terms of ability and
conformation and I thank you for all your good work in providing me a very
good hunting dog and companion. Attached is a picture of “Sage” at six
months.
Thanks again and take care, J.L. ............ North Dakota |

 Kerry,
Here are a few pics of "Twig" (Destiny x Dapper Dan) taken during a workout
on Nov. 12, 2009. He is 41/2 months old in these pics. He is doing a great
job. I'm very impressed with him. He caught the scent cone on a crosswind
cast and locked up into this beautiful point. The bird is about 15 yards
upwind. Not bad for a youngster!! He is a complete joy to work with and
quite the clown I might add. Thanks for the great pup!!!! S. P.

Kerry,
I just wanted to provide you a quick update regarding our last email and our
hunting trip to North Dakota. We spent 4 days around Willington N.D.
pheasant hunting, and had an amazing hunt. The birds were more spread out
and less in numbers than previous years according to the local people we
met. But we had success everyday with persistent hunting.
The experience was invaluable for my dog Jesse. As you might recall, I was a
bit concerned about him ranging too far, and you mentioned a check cord at
first. I fortunately did not have to use the cord, and again was amazed by
Jesse's natural instinct. He knew exactly how far to hunt in front of us,
and covered more territory doing so than the other two dogs combined (2
German Shorthairs and 1 Pointing Lab). He pointed and held so many
pheasants......I can't tell you how proud I was of my English Setter. He
might have been the only one disappointed at my lack of shooting skills,
although persistence and his ability to point and hold the birds until
nearly under my feet ended up equalizing the situation. We are going
to Idaho next week for another week of hunting, and I can't wait! I only
wish we had as many birds as you do in North Dakota........but I am
convinced that the English Setter is the hunting equalizer, giving us the
best opportunity for success.
Thank you again for your help and recommendations, and most of all for
Jesse. C.B. ........... California |

 Hi
Kerry, Abbey born September 1, 2008. Parents Dazey and Black Jack.
Its been one year since we picked up Abbey and she has turned into a good
hunter. The one picture shows her with her first hun and sharp tail taken in
Sept in Montana. The other picture shows her with her first point and find
on a well colored rooster taken on Oct 18 in Montana. She had pointed other
pheasants but they lacked good color for picture taking. She has been
well tested on huns and grouse in Saskatchewan and everyone that sees her is
impressed by her good looks and hard work. She automatically goes into any
tough cover that is likely to hold birds. The pheasant numbers are down in
Montana but there are also fewer hunters and so we have had four good days
of hunting so far this fall. We plan on another two day trip as soon as we
get some good weather which may be this week end. Hope that you are having a
good fall for hunting in ND. E.K. ............ Saskatchewan |

 Hi
there, This is J.B. here from San Francisco. I have a 2 year old
female (Kerry) born Aug 8 from Blackleg and Katie. I just want to tell you
she is a wonderful family dog. She loves people and is always happy! Her
favorite activity is going to the beach! Enclosed are some pictures. Kerry

much for everything. J.B. ......... California |

Kerry,
Well we've had "Twig" now since Aug 11th (Destiny X Dapper Dan). I couldn't
be more pleased. So far, at 13 weeks he is exactly what I was hoping for. He
is very intelligent and super easy to train. Just a riot to have around, has
tons of personality, is confident and is afraid of nothing. I take him for a
run in the woods almost every day for 30 minutes or so before work and have
started check cording him. We have been working on pigeons with sets of 3
pigeons 3 - 4 times a week. We started the pigeon work at 11 weeks old. This
evening he held a point for 77 secs!!!! He just loves to point and he hasn't
missed a bird yet. Thank you very much for producing such a nice
pup. I'll give you updates from time to time, and send you some pics when I
figure out how to download them. S.P. ..................

Hi
Kerry,
It has been quite some time since we have talked. Sorry no hunting pictures
at the present but for some reason we have had rain on going now for the
past 2+ weeks without hardly a days relief. What is it about a
white dog and rain and dirt? I feel like I have 2 children who can’t stop
playing out in the rain. But what I really can’t understand is that I have
the only two that like to play in the mud. I know they are brother and
sister, but this is ridiculous. Hope all is going well. These
two are fantastic!!! As you said when I decided to take two, two
really is better than one. T.E. ............. New Jersey |

with them on the weekend and I thought I would send you a few pictures.

Thanks
again for allowing me to purchase yet another Amazing English Setter from
you! Bella is from Citation x Yanni and whelped 06-25-08. After
the pictures I include you might just regret giving her up. Hope the
flooding goes down soon so I can take some better pics of her in the field.
You said she was going to be a fine pup and she is! She runs like the wind
and has a point that makes you tear up. This is what Setters are all about.
Like all Setter's she is also laid back in the house and thrives on
attention. Both Chase (from Reba x Clippership) and Bella get jumpy and know
when we might be leaving the house. They are not left behind very often and
go with us everywhere. Bella seems to know when she won't get to go with and
it has caused some problems at times. Setters seem to be very good at
opening doors that are not closed tight. Seems that the only thing one can
do in that situation is track her and make sure she is safe until she tires
out. Can't wait to see what an amazing Setter she will be in two years
after some more work. The harsh and bitter winter caused a set back in her
early training but it's not hard to see that she will be a great and amazing
hunting dog and forever companion. Thanks Again!!! Only 1 word
for your dogs.... Perfect. M.T. ..................North Dakota |

  Marian
and Kerry,
Trish keeps reminding me to write to you about how happy we are to have Dan
(whelped in 2004) and Gus (2006) at our house. These are the nicest setters
we’ve ever had, all in all, going back to 1980. Old Jack finally headed out
on the ghost road last December, at age 14 ½. The boys seemed a little
confused at first, but trust me, they got over it. It’s been a bear of a
winter, and the worst hun and pheasant season in anyone’s memory. I’ll
likely have to head east to the high plains to hunt this year as a
consequence. We hope you are all in good health and will continue to
steward the best line of setters in the land. We thank you for your
commitment to this enterprise, and for your contributions to this fine breed
of bird dog.

We
thought we would take a moment of your time and tell you that Beatlez is
wonderful.... he is the best of the 3 dogs we have gotten from you in the
past. He is HUGE! at 4 months he is a wopping 46 pounds and that is muscle.
He has 5 acres to run and hunt on from the time the sun comes up to it going
down! He is not afraid of ANYTHING... we will have to watch him with the
snakes come summer time... he catches at least one quail a week and numerous
doves all on his own. Also with that list is LIZARDS.....:) We are going to
start getting him ready for some field trials.... HE IS GOING TO BE A

Hello Kerry: Thanks for the time today, it
was a pleasure. I am writing to you with the intention of breeding my
male English Setter to obtain a male pup that my present Setter can assist
in training in the field. “Windsor” is the name of my 5 year old Setter.
Windsor’s sire is “Blacksmith”. I have been a dog owner and hunter all of my
life and have never ever seen or had such a great overall dog in instinct,
desire, style, skill, and temperament. Windsor is one cool customer and is
praised by anyone that has the pleasure to hunt with him. To sum it up he is
“poetry in motion”. I am sure that all of your clients likely feel the same
way about their dogs. To me, the fact is that Windsor is a very special and
gifted dog that can smell birds from six football fields away (windy day).
He is well versed in hunting birds everything from geese to pheasants. His
real passion is Pheasants. Respectfully, J.F....Saskatchewan |

Greetings.
We bought a female setter from you back in winter 2001. Just wanted to share
some photos of her. She is out of HAVELOCK JINGLES AND HAVELOCK BLACKSMITH,
her name: Free River Sage. Not only has she been an amazing upland
bird hunting dog, she has also been a fabulous addition to our family and
great with the kids (a bit of an adjustment for her when they came along, as
she was our "first baby"...). Sage has been on the cover of 2 sporting
magazines (photos attached), and featured in many others. Many thanks
for such a wonderful dog.! M.E. ........... Montana |

attached you will see a picture of Havelock Fastball aka “Harriet” posing
with a limit of late season pheasant taken here in Oklahoma within and hour
of walking into the field. She matured into a nice big, loveable, hard
working dog. I apologize for not sending information sooner but I do not
hunt in groups significantly and seldom take photos. She works great on
quail as well.
Thanx for a nice dog. (Powerball X Shorty)

Dear
Kerry,
On the 20th of December marked 1 year since my wife and I went to Newark
Airport and picked up Sadie and Cody. I don’t know if you remember, but we
had chosen Sadie from the litter, but 1 day before shipping, we, actually I,
decided that Cody should come along as well. Sure made a surprise for
everyone when they looked into the cage and saw two butts and 2 tails.
Just wanted you to know that it has been a super success. The dogs have been
terrific. A real joy. Training has also gone very well. Sorry that I
can’t send you a picture of them with hunting jackets and pointing. Sadie
injured her paw twice and needed stitches once. I am so tired of wrapping
and keeping it dry. But both have been fantastic both in the house and
outside. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a great New
Year!!

We
just wanted to send an update on Daisy! We picked her up at the airport in
mid-late July and she is wonderful! It was so easy to pick her up. Well
house trained as soon as she got home with us and we’ve only lost few shoes!
She is great with our kids, and loves to play with them. She is very sweet
and good natured. Attached is a picture of her on her second trip to
Kansas this season. We wanted to send you a picture with her on point, but
this one is more fun. So far she is great to watch in the field and is
really getting the hang of finding the birds! We look forward to many great
years with her as our hunting companion. We hope to one day make it up to
see you!

Kerry
- I just got back from our 3 week trip to Montana and I can not tell you how
pleased I am with Gus. Gus was 4 months old when we left for Montana and I
was very hesitant to even take him. All I had done with him was walk him as
you suggested and changed directions frequently without signaling to Gus.
He got very good at keeping track of me.
Gus started pointing birds the second day of the season out in Montana and I
started shooting birds over his points on the third day - taking several
birds over his very staunch points, including a double on sharptails and a
double on huns. Gus hunted at an average 100 yards from me and hunted very
happily and enthusiastically. One minute he would be a 4 month old puppy
chasing butterflys out in the field and the next minute he would be winding
birds and slamming into points like a veteran birddog. This is by far the
most promising puppy that I have ever had. If I can get a handle on him
(have not yet started trying to even teach commands as you recommend), he
should make one fine bird dog. The first double on sharptails that I took
over Gus, he brought the first bird to me while I was getting the second.
Thanks for such a pup!

We named her Sierra. She looks good very level
headed. Has yet to have an accident in her puppy pen in the basement. Only
whined the first evening and settled right in. Seems to want to keep and eye
on you and loves to run in the clover field out front. Glad to see her level
head. She retrieves in a hallway and has a little bit of point with wing and
fishing pole. Seems attentive and wants to be with you. Off to a good start
we have our fingers crossed. I love the shape and her markings. Thanks we
will keep in touch. B.K. ............ Indianapolis |

Kerry:
We picked up the pup on Wednesday as scheduled. She was sound asleep when we
first saw her. What a great little puppy. She is curious and bold and so
playful. She plays hard, then sleeps. What fun. Her markings are very nice
and I expect the flecking to continue to develop. I’m planning to work
with her as she develops and matures and will have her ready to explore
North Dakota (New Town area) by September. We have a grouse and partridge
hunt planned for early September……and then again in October after pheasant
season opens. I’ll keep you posted on her progress. I’m very impressed
with your website, your organization (you made it very easy to select,
purchase and receive a puppy without visiting your kennel), and with the
quality of hunting and family dog you provide at Havelock kennels. I can’t
wait to see how Jemma develops. (English name with Latin origin…..”jewel”)

We just wanted to send an update on the puppy we got from you. Lucy is from
the Reba and Citation
litter.
(1/30/08) She arrived here in perfect condition. The people at Northwest
Cargo in Detroit were so nice to her, giving her fresh bedding while she
waited for us to get there. She is fitting in nice here and loves to be
outside, playing and running around with her new English Setter sisters. She
also likes to go on long walks on our property. She went for her first swim
last week in the pond, which she seemed to enjoy. Thanks again, she is a
perfect match for us. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Hello my name is B.L. I purchased a pup out of
Powerball and Meg almost 3 years ago, I named him Bo. Short for bodacious He
is a drop dead gorgeous dog now. He is very smart, he does not fall for the
same thing twice. Very fast and does not miss a thing. We have shot probably
400 birds over him now. He is all business. He points, honors and retrieves
naturally. He is a true gentleman. But he still plays with my grandsons like
a puppy. Thank you again for him. It was such a small price for what I
received in return, You gave him away. Still watching your web. Maybe
another pup next year. Sincerely, B.L.

Hi
Kerry, It's Zach, I was just writing you to compliment your breeding,
Koda is an energetic, driven, and loving dog. Whenever I take her places
people are always complimenting me on how beautiful she is. Today was
closing day here in Idaho and I was out with Koda, and my other setter, and
I witnessed the first as well as many other confirmed points on wild birds
out of her. needless to say I was so excited about the point I missed
the birds, but I eventually was able to drop a few. Z.H. ................ Idaho |

Kerry,
Thought I'd send you an update on the puppy I bought from you last summer.
Molly (Reba X Dan) had a good season on Quail and Pheasant this past year.
She had a few points and one beautiful retrieve. When pointing she keeps her
head high and her tail is straight up. I have not done any training, other
than taking her hunting every time I went, because she acts like a big
puppy. So now that she is approaching one year in age I'm starting to work
on commands. She is very quick to pick up on what I want and I believe she
may be the smartest dog I've ever owned. She is very biddable and the most
beautiful dog I have ever had. She looks exactly like her mother, minus the
brown on her muzzle. As a matter of fact she looks just like the dog in your
hunting pictures titled "Gunner". I don't have any pictures from this past
season but when I get some and send them to you. Also, I have
continued to feed her Purina One, Lamb & Rice. Is that what you feed your
adult dogs? She has filled out beautifully and is very strong and has
unbelievable endurance. She is not the least overweight.
Hope that you had a good year. J.W. ............ Illinois |

Hi
Kerry,
Thought I would send you a note to let you know that I sent the crate back
to you yesterday. You should receive it UPS in a few days. Both
puppies arrived perfectly. No problems, no issues. As you know, I purchased
the second puppy the day before shipment, and you accommodated my request
without any problems. Thanks for your help. Both puppies have fit the
mold of your letters on the internet. Although they were not house broken
when we got them, the female has been almost perfect since the first week,
and the male is not that far behind. After 2 weeks, the male is
already pointing, and both are doing exceptionally well out doors. We are
outside every day, rain, snow, shine, or evening, and I have had a lot of
success at training both without leashes. Your suggestions on the web have
been super helpful. Thought I would send you a picture of both that I
took last evening. Feel free to use it on your website if you would like.

Hi
Kerry,
Just
figured
that I would send an update and some pictures of the pup (Reba & Dapper Dan)
I bought from you last summer. Katie broke at 5 months on her second trip in
the field. She is pointing ptarmigan and backing my old dog like a pro. Kate
has lots of leg for a dog who is only 5 1/2 months old, seems like she has
the potential to be a real ranger (just the way we like it here on the
"ROCK"). The puppy loves to comb open country, but she doesn't like to give
up downed birds!! (She once ran a full hour with a bird in her mouth and
wouldn't come close enough to catch her). She has all the signs of becoming
a pro. The dog swims like an otter and absolutely loves the water. I am
extremely pleased with her progress and can only hope for the best. Thanks
again for a wonderful puppy! I'll send more pictures as she progresses.
